That is some Album ART ;) |
When a new version of
Android comes out with all its new features and changed functionality, everyone
gets eager for an update. Well if you are on a Nexus, or even Motorola Device,
you are in luck, but for the large flock that uses devices from other OEMs and
are on Carrier contracts, you know how it is.
So what do we do? Buy a new device? Root and Flash our
(just) year old device? While many would love to go for the latter, it is often
at the cost of losing many features and smoothness of using a phone on stock
build. It just doesn’t work out for the normal people and semi-geeks, the
crashes, the compatibility problems and the lot.
So what we do instead is search for apps in the Google
Playstore that bring in the new features and functions to all older phones.
Kitkat brought with itself a lot of new stuff like onscreen buttons,
transparent status bar, a new launcher, lockscreen album art etc. to name a
few.
Previously we had posted about the Google Experience
Launcher (GEL) can be used on almost every device running android Jellybean
(4.1+). The link to that post is here: http://geekyisin.blogspot.in/2013/12/official-and-fully-working-google.html
Now I give you another which brings in the album art of the
music you are playing on your home and lock screens.
We shall use 2 Apps for the purpose both of which are
available on the Google Play Store for FREE.
The first being the
Muzei Live Wallpaper : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.muzei
This is a Live Wallpaper which can be used in many ways with
extensions available in the PlayStore.
The extension we shall need for the album art is:
Muzei Music Extension: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplecity.muzei.music
Now you can just set Muzei as your wallpaper from Live
Wallpapers for both Home and Lockscreens and there you have your album art
whenever you listen to music.
The best part, it works with almost every music player (used
with play music, touchwiz music, real player). It has options to blur and dim
the image and also the option of adding a default image when not playing music.
