Razer announces the Nabu, a smartband for every aspect of your life

Wearable technology is all the rage lately, and manufacturers are pushing into the market at an incredible pace. And of course, we welcome this influx of interest. There’s nothing like competition to create the best product possible. Interestingly, the latest announcement was by Razer, a company known for its gaming peripherals.
Razer didn’t announce a fitness smartband though, the Nabu is far more than that. This is more of a lifestyle device, integrating fitness, work, gaming, and social life into one little band. Not too many details are available, but a trailer was released of of the device that shows it being used in some very creative ways.
A small display on the bottom shows notifications, while a smaller display at the top tells you what kind of notification it is. A shake of the wrist dismisses the notification. Shaking hands with someone who is also wearing a Nabu transfers contact info, and a high five will share social info. The device tracks fitness goals, sleep patterns, and even has a smart alarm that wakes you at the proper time. Plus, it features an open development platform, so developers can freely create apps. And if you’re a developer, you can buy a Nabu for only $49.
A few specs are listed for the device. The top display is a 32×32 OLED panel, while the bottom is a 128×32 OLED panel. The device contains an accelerometer, altimeter, vibration motor, and a battery with a 7 day life. Plus, it’ll work with iOS and Android with a dedicated app. And of course, like all smart bands should be, it’s ran and splash proof.
