MOVIE REVIEW:GRAVITY, A BREATHTAKING VISUAL SPECTACLE

GRAVITY, directed by Oscar  nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding  and dazzling thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Dr. Ryan Stone(Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky(Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.Watching Bullock and Clooney's space-fares go right about their business, you may feel-for the first time since "The Right Stuff",perhaps that a Hollywood blockbuster grasps the essence of a job that many can't imagine without feeling dizzy. The film's panoramas of astronauts tumbling against star fields and floating through space station interiors are at once informative and lovely.

GRAVITY:MOVIE POSTER

But the most surprising and impressive thing about the film isn't its scale, its suspense,or its sense of wonder;it's that,in its heart, its not primarily a film about astronauts,or space,or even a specific catastrophe. At times it plays like a high-tech version of shipwreck or wilderness survival story that happens to take place among the stars, and that would fit nicely on a double-bill alongside "127 Hours","Cast Away" or "Rescue Dawn".For all its stunning exteriors,it is really concerned with the emotional interiors, and it goes about exploring them with simplicity and directness, letting the actors' faces and voices carry the burden of meaning. It's about what happens to the psyche as well as the body in the aftermath of a catastrophe.

As far as the performances are concerned its the film's leading lady who steals much of the credit for the terrific portrayal of Dr.Ryan Stone.Clooney is good but is somehow overshadowed by the lady who presents one of the best physical performances in recent years. The way she twist, turns and swims through zero gravity is incredibly presented on the big screen.

The film is about that moment when you suffered misfortune that seemed unendurable and believed all hope was lost and that you might as well curl up and die,and then you didn't.Why did you decide to keep going? It is about hope, courage and the will to come out alive. It's a mystery as great as any in physics or astronomy.

A masterpiece in the true sense. This one can't be missed-A MUST WATCH..........
